DFT students in Kindergarten through fifth grade are participating in a nationwide "Hour of Code" event again this year. The event is sponsored by Code.org, an organization dedicated to expanding participation in computer science. Coding allows students to develop important strategies for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas! Our students and teachers are spending one hour learning how to use blocks of code to control the actions of characters in a game. By dragging and dropping commands, then viewing the "hidden code" in the command blocks, they are learning the basics of how programmers create games and other software. |
